FuZion was dq'ed for low blow to VooDoo
Just Josh defeated Dragon Spawn
Savannah Summers defeated Sara Jay
Giant Dregan Grimm was dq'ed in his match against Mimic
Justin Cross defeated Gambino
Dienamic defeated Pitbull in a hardcore death match
Mimic from team Cruise (Mimic VooDoo and Just Josh) pinned GD Grimm from team Enigma (Grimm, FuZion and Gambino)
resulting in Matthews being stripped of his title
First time at the Estonian Hall for me and it’s a nice little venue. I like the look of the stage being elevated away from the crowd and the sound bounced off the walls very well to add to the overall feel of the night. Great job done on the sound and lighting but I’ll touch on that later.
I must also apologise to the wrestlers tonight because my review of a couple of matches will not be 100% as I could not keep up with the action in the ring! I think I missed about three or four moves over the whole night and I hope that doesn’t cause anyone any offence.
Tonight on commentary we had Commissioner Andy Cruize, Kurt and The Enigma, Damon Matthews. These three bounced off each other so well and were entertaining all night, whilst putting themselves over but not at the expense of the wrestlers or matches. Not sure about the amount of swearing but I’ll also touch on that later too. Also, great to have someone like Damon on the microphone who could cover for the few mistakes that were made during matches. Without hesitation he’d react to a missed spot by supplying a plausible different outcome, something that other commentators have not done in the past. Also, loved how the wrestlers were introduced from the ring by Kurt. Nice touch that hasn’t really been done in the past. Adds to the overall professional feel of the show and gives them each a chance to make more of a entrance. Also interesting development with Cruize telling Damon he has to defend or relinquish the title tonight…….
Once again Fuzion came out with the SnakePit title but I’m confused why the referee displayed it to the crowd? Usually that is only done when the title is on the line but it wasn’t in this match. Both guys start off with a test of strength but Fuzion loses patience with that very quickly and hits VooDoo with two shots to the jaw. He follows up with a spinning clothesline but VooDoo comes back with one of his own, which sends Fuzion to the floor to reassess his strategy. He soon comes back in and goes to work on VooDoo’s knee. VooDoo manages to get back to his feet and reverses into a short arm clothesline but again Fuzion takes charge and this time goes after a shoulder. That doesn’t last long as VooDoo uses his momentum to reverse into an arm drag. Getting frustrated, Fuzion goes to an eye rake and two running knees to the head. Next is a scoop slam an arrogant pin attempt with one foot on his opponent’s chest but it rightly only gets a one count. This time he hits a sidewalk slam into a back breaker but that only brings him two. He then chokes VooDoo whilst in the mount position and follows up with a clothesline off the ropes that looked like it was meant to be a double clothesline spot but VooDoo never hit him. Fuzion goes back to work on the knee and uses a variation on the atomic drop by putting the impact onto his knee rather than the conventional way. He follows that up with a variation on the Boston crab to put more torque on that knee and then it’s another clothesline. The crowd was enjoying the action but were not giving the wrestlers much feedback in the way of noise. I think it came down to neither guy really working or interacting with them, apart from their initial entrance. They pick up when VooDoo fights back with a springboard clothesline off the second rope and takes over with two more clotheslines, high knee lifts and a Japanese arm drag. I then miss the next move (sorry), which is followed up by a tornado DDT off the second rope. A springboard back elbow gets him a two count and so does the hip toss that comes next. Fuzion is desperate and manages a full nelson into a chokeslam and now both men are down. Fuzion is the first to get up and hits a wicked DDT, followed by stiff kicks to the back, a big boot and his trademark spine buster but still he only gets a two count. Out of nowhere VooDoo hits a Canadian Destroyer, which I must admit did not make sense in the context of the match but is still awesome to witness. That sends Fuzion back to the floor to regain his senses and he attempts his chokeslam when he comes back in but VooDoo reverses out of it and attempts to finish the match himself. Then in an act of desperation Fuzion reverts to a low blow and his disqualified, handing the win to VooDoo. With Fuzion distracted while basking in the glory of his own greatness, VooDoo hits him with a low blow and then a move that I have no name for! Basically, he walks up his opponent’s body and then when elevated above them, he comes down with an elbow to the head. Don’t know its name but it suits VooDoo’s style. Pretty good opening match but I would have put Josh & Dragon Spawn first to get the crowd going and then let these two ride that momentum.

“Ring Attire 101” with Scott is back! I’m going to probably be killed for this but I did not like Savannah’s new ring attire, actually just the skirt. It made her look like she should be on Star Trek, not in a wrestling ring. I’m a man so what do I know but it just didn’t look “right” to me. And Ms Jay, where was the trademark entrance under the bottom rope? How dare you take that away from me, I mean us!! Sara starts off with an arm bar into a full nelson but Savannah reversed that into a head lock. Sara is then able to reverse that into a hammer lock with a bridge (very nice). Savannah locks in an arm bar and whips Sara to the corner, following up with some kicks to the midriff. She then puts on a surfboard submission but Sara reverses that into a bridge. This is where Sara became agitated and took out her frustration and anger on Savannah. She tossed her across the ring using her hair then pulled on her hands using Savannah’s hair as leverage! She then put Savannah’s head to the turnbuckle and used the ropes as a weapon to choke her. Another hair toss followed but by this time Savannah had had enough and hit a Lou Thesz press but it was to no avail as Sara just took over again. She hit Savannah with forearm shots and chops, a hip toss and then double leg drop. Next were ore stiff forearm shots and then the big boot to the throat. Savannah rallied behind the crowd’s support and came off the top with a double axe handle and then a hip toss after whipping Sara into the ropes. She then hit a bulldog and DDT but Sara was able to bridge out of the pin - nice variation instead of just lifting a shoulder. Sara came back with a delayed scoop slam and double leg drop, then tried to submit her opponent with a camel clutch. Savannah got back to her feet and hit what looked like the “Stratisfaction” for the win. For those not familiar with Trish Stratus who used to wrestle in the WWE – you have your opponent in head lock, lift up your legs, push off the ropes and spin around into a bulldog. Savannah left the ring but Sara was not happy with the result and attacked her on the entrance ramp but she missed a standing drop kick that kind of left the effort flat with the crowd. Both ladies then brawled back in the ring to the enjoyment of everyone in attendance. Not their best match together but it was still good and the crowd enjoyed it. I liked the twist of the after match brawl and hope they let the ladies work some more scenarios, rather than just having the standard match each show.

Interesting choice for a match – two crowd favourites with no back storyline. Who is the crowd going to support and will they be happy to cheer them both? Of course they pop huge for Josh as they always do but what’s with the blue chin? I didn’t get that at all. A bit of sizing each other up to start things before Dragon hits the Val Venis knees to the midriff off the ropes, followed by a shot to the midriff then side and spinning kicks in the corner. A lot of good sportsmanship from both men, which got a mixed reaction from the crowd. I guess some of them wanted cause to jeer somebody and were looking for direction. The two men then had a kickfest before Dragon went to spear Josh against the corner turnbuckles but he moved and Dragon ended up through the ropes. Rather than react to this opportunity, Josh helped Dragon back into the ring and again the crowd weren’t totally happy about that. Josh took off with a flying clothesline and then the classic then punches whilst standing on the corner turnbuckle. A kick to the ribs was next before Dragon dropped down into a splits and monkey flipped Josh onto his back – very cool move! I then missed the next piece of action whilst discussing the splits with my daughter who was also very impressed and before I knew it Josh was prone on the mat with his head hanging to the outside. Dragon hit the Taker guillotine leg drop from the apron and then went to the floor to follow up with a kick to Josh’s head. He has Josh with him on the outside and goes for a chop but misses and hits the ring post. Josh whips Dragon into the guard rails and then hits a double leg kick, with Dragon seated on the floor. The aerial war starts as Josh hits a high cross body from the ring to the floor and does the same but this time from the top rope to the mat where Dragon has been placed. This brings a two count and Josh goes back to the ropes but is caught with a standing drop kick to the head. Dragon goes aerial himself with a flying side kick from the top rope then hits a slam and four quick, sharp elbow drops. He then hits a head butt to Josh’s body but the out of no where comes a kick to the back that sends Dragon onto the ropes, Josh does the HBK flip up off his back and a bad 619 that didn’t have enough momentum to completely swing him back into the ring. Josh goes back to the top for the spring board cross body that has become his finishing move of late and he gets the win. Entertaining match with some nice moves from both men but with no back story it lacked a bit of emotion for me. I’d love to see both of these guys in feuds that could only enhance their character and matches. Dragon v Fuzion for the SnakePit title……..wait! Josh running for the RCW Title – the crowd would lap it up though he’s so over they’d love him no matter what he did!

I’m really loving Dregan’s new entrance, complete with mood lighting. Also a great touch and was an act of brilliance to hit the red mood lighting every time he did the curb stomp. What a wicked impact move even more dramatic. The crowd had been waiting for this one and Dregan was quick to act and attack his brother. Mimic put on a deep arm drag but Dregan came back with a clothesline to the back of the head. It was a fast pace start with both men trying to dominate but then Dregan got to work with a scoop slam and kicks to the ribs. He then whipped Mimic into the corners, with the impact cause a whiplash effect on the neck. A stiff running clothesline came next before Mimic got in a leg lariat and excellent hurricarana that I did not see coming. He attempted a tilt a whirl that looked like a missed spot but Damon’s commentary gave me cause to doubt it, so I was none the wiser. Dregan went to work on the knee and then hit a brutal clothesline that dropped Mimic on his head! An elbow shot to the sternum and then they were on the floor where Dregan whipped Mimic into the ring post with such momentum that his feet swung around and hit the guard rails! Next was a moment I will never forget – Dregan placed his own flesh and blood against the rails and hit the two most brutal chops I have ever witnessed in person. I didn’t know what to say, except advise Mimic to make sure his skin was still there! Dregan then hit the Taker leg drop onto the apron and a stomp from the top rope before putting in more stiff punches. With the crowd 100% behind him, Mimic hit a German suplex and then a Northern Light’s suplex, before putting in some stiff forearm shots of his own. He then whipped Dregan into the ropes and hit a leg lariat, followed by the Miz clothesline through the ropes and Eddie Guerrero senton off the apron back into the ring. He had all the momentum as he executed a back breaker but it was all lost as he missed an asai moonsault from the top rope. Dregan took his chance and through in a fall away slam and a couple of clubbing forearm blows to the back. His tilt a whirl backbreaker could then only bring him a two count. Some more punches but he then missed a big boot and Mimic put on the dragon twist and some stiff kicks. A pump handle driver later and he could only get a two count as well. He didn’t get frustrated as he hit a flying forearm and then Jericho lionsault but Dregan went ballistic as he threw Mimic into the corner and began to beat him down. The referee’s count had no affect on Dregan and he was disqualified but that didn’t stop him inflicting more pain onto his sibling. Security came in to pull them apart but Dregan ignored him as well and continued the assault with a big boot. He then whipped Mimic off the ropes and a double clothesline put them both down. They then brawled to the floor where security and officials finally pulled them apart. Let the abuse begin but this was match of the night for me. It had action, a developed, slowly worked storyline and raw emotion. I’m glad they didn’t end it here as this feud deserves so much more and I can’t wait for the next twist.

The best part of this match happened before the bell was rung. Adam came out with a life jacket on, told Damon Matthews to sit down and shut up, then proceeded to “shoot” on someone who had just left RCW. Not everyone’s cup of tea I am sure but it served its purpose – it put Adam over with the fans. It’s been done in wrestling forever and anyone who has been in the business knows it happens and why it’s done. Could someone take offence to it? Of course they could and that would be their right but let’s not get carried away here and make a mountain out of a mole hill. It was a shoot in little Estonian Hall on one Saturday night that will be forgotten by most in attendance by the time they went to work or school Monday morning. Let’s all move on. Apparently these two have worked together a few times, though you couldn’t tell from tonight’s performance. The match was slow, disjointed and sloppy. Luckily it was also short. Sad really because both have so much more to offer than this and a waste for them to both come so far and not work to their full potential. They started off with an exchange of forearms before Cross put in a flying shoulder block that was offset with a shoulder block of his own from Adam. He followed that with a spinning clothesline but was hit back with a short arm clothesline. How many times have I typed “clothesline”?!! Both men then exchange some stiff kicks before Adam hits a chop and shoulder block that sees Cross come back with a spinning forearm. Adam is still in this as he hits a German release suplex and then spinning clothesline. Cross gets up and from nowhere hits a superkick and then clothesline off the ropes that brings a two count. He misses a spinning kick that allows Adam to put on the Angle Lock. Cross gets out of the submission and incredibly hits a German suplex – that’s impressive! He’s caught on the ropes but still manages to get off a cross body from the top but he misses and Adam hits a powerbomb that makes me cringe! OUCH! Both men then have a chop fest before each putting in kicks to the head. Damon comes down to support Adam and hopefully distract Justin but Adam is whipped into the ropes and ends up knocking off onto the entrance ramp. A double clothesline later and both men have now had enough of Matthews as they both hit him! Cross then hits several quick kicks and a spinning enzuguri for the win. Strange finish to a strange little match. I liked the shoot, I liked the interaction with Matthews but there wasn’t much else to enjoy from this one. Hopefully Cross will be back to show what he can really do – see his match with Matthews – and I know Adam will bring his A-game next month.

Have to go make myself some coffee before I start this one…..Where do I start? Probably explaining why I didn’t give this match of the night, which will surprise a lot of people. Was it awesome – you bet it was! Are these two guys the bravest and / or stupidest I’ve ever seen? Depends on which way you look at it! Was this a wrestling match? In my eyes; no. This was the most violent, sick and brutal thing I have ever seen but it was not wrestling. Remember, this is my opinion and mine alone. For those main stream fans out there – Mimic V Dregan was WWE. Dienamic v Pitbull was CZW. One can not be compared to the other but both were simply awesome. If I had spoken to either man on the night I would have bowed down before them as I was in awe of what they put themselves through to entertain us. It’s just not my cup of tea. I enjoyed it. I loved it. I just thought their first two matches were better in light of those two encounters this was the way to decide this feud. So I’m mixed. I loved it but I don’t know how to review it! Forget about many wrestling moves and forget about my notes being accurate as I was busy either wincing and turning my head, or making sure my daughter was out of harms way when they came our way. She loved it!! Pitbull came through the crowd with a shopping trolley wrapped in barbwire and an assortment of weapons. Nice touch for the face to do that. Oh, did I mention that two sides of the ring had its ropes covered in barbwire? We started off in the ring with both men exchanging kicks and trying to push or whip the other one into the barbwire ropes. Dienamic was the first to go into the ropes and the blood began running from his back and shoulders immediately. He got up and both men traded forearm shots before Dienamic hit a low blow and then whipped Pitbull into the barbwire. He hit some more forearm shots before being slammed onto a board covered in barbwire. Pitbull then hit him with a pizza dish but Dienamic hit back with a double leg kick and put Pitbull through another barb wire board. He pulled off Pitbull’s t-shirt and whipped him into the barbwire ropes. Pitbull was then able to come back and reverse out and suplex Dienamic onto a barbwire board. At this stage the crowd was in shock. You could see people everywhere turning the heads and letting out audible gasps as each new horror occurred. Pitbull took to the stage that had a Christmas Tree and brought back a “present” to the ring. That delay allowed Dienamic to recover and he put a cork screw over Pitbull’s head that had been brought out from under the ring earlier. Dienamic then took out a baseball bat covered in barbwire and hit Pitbull on the back with it. He then put a fork into Pitbull’s head, which came from I don’t know where!! A ladder was retrieved from under the ring and Dienamic hit a suplex but was then whipped onto the ladder that was set up against the corner ropes. He returned the favour by then hitting Dienamic with the barbwire baseball bat and corkscrew. A couple of chair shots later and low blow later Pitbull brought out a miniature cricket bat that had about a dozen fresh razor blades stuck into it. The delay in going to the trolley gave Dienamic the chance he needed and he took the bat and hit Pitbull in the chest with it – OH MY GOD!!!! The blood didn’t run immediately – it gushed! Pitbull had several cuts on his chest, one that was wide enough to stick your finger along! How he kept on going I have no idea but he did and he power slammed Dienamic onto a barbwire board. Dienamic came back with some chair shots and Pitbull fell to the floor where Katie stapled his head and back with a staple gun!! The staples to the head sounded sickening. Did that stop him? Nope! He got up and used the pizza tray again and then a garbage bin to put Dienamic on his back. Both men are dazed, bloody and already exhausted as Dienamic whips Pitbull into the corner and hits him with a double drop kick. Pitbull is then back out on the floor after moving some guard rails and Dienamic attempts a senton over the top rope but misses and hits the wooden floor, taking a chair shot to the head in mid-air! That was one of the worse sounds I’ve ever heard as his back hit the solid floor. Pitbull goes to the bar and comes back with a UDL that he cracks over Dienamic’s head. Dienamic then rams him with the shopping trolley covered in barbwire but ends up being slammed off the stage through the chairs on the floor! Pitbull then lights up a kendo stick and hits him over the back but in turn is thrown into the ladder. These two are willing to do anything to each other in order to come out triumphant. Pain is not an option. Katie had retrieved a black bag from the Christmas present and now Pitbull opens it, to reveal 1,000’s of gold thumbtacks! He then hip toss’ Dienamic onto the tacks and as he turns his body to reveal himself as the human pin cushion, the crowd collectively winces again. Now to easily move of the night and simply one of the most extreme things I’ve ever seen – a barbwire board had been set up to lay across the ring apron to a guard rail. Pitbull then proceeded to hit a celtic cross off the apron and through that board to the floor. The board exploded upon impact and so did the crowd. One of several but probably the loudest, “RCW” chants breaks out from the fans who are now either in shock or violence frenzy. Katie distracts the referee to prevent Pitbull getting the pin and that allows Dienamic to hit another low blow. He then hits what looks like an Angle Slam that drops Pitbull’s head on the floor. Dienamic stacks all the chairs in the corner where he was earlier slammed off the stage and hits a double stomp off the entrance way, onto Pitbull, onto the countless chairs! Katie comes into the ring to hit Pitbull with a chair but he ducks and she ends up hitting Dienamic! He comes back with yet another low blow and back suplexes Pitbull onto the thumbtacks. He then goes to the back and brings out an even bigger ladder and sets it up in the ring. He places a barbwire board over the now spent Pitbull and comes off the top of the ladder with a double stomp that brings him the win. Both men get a standing ovation from the crowd and Dienamic heads to the back, leaving Katie in the ring taunting Pitbull. She regrets that decision as he gets to his feet and motions to the crowd that she needs to be introduced to the tacks. Dienamic looks back and decides he’s had enough but Fuzion comes to the ring, attacking Pitbull with chair shots and saving the girl. I’m exhausted just writing and remembering all that. If I missed anything or got anything wrong, I sincerely apologise and please let me know what needs to be corrected, as that match and those two men deserve to be accurately portrayed. The hall was a mess: blood everywhere, chairs everywhere, thumbtacks and barbwire everywhere. I have never seen anything like it and I doubt I ever will again.

Commissioner Cruize then came to the ring and told Damon Matthews that his time was up – if he couldn’t wrestle then he had to hand over the title. There was no way Damon was giving up the title and he brought out his back up – Dregan, Fuzion & Gambino. Cruize thought that might happen so he brought out a posse of his own – Mimic, Josh and VooDoo. He then put a challenge to the Enigma – Team Enigma v Team Cruize in an Elimination Match. Matthews’ team wins, he keeps the belt but if they lose, he has to hand it over. Damon agrees and now we have a six man match…..
Fuzion and Josh start off with the SnakePit champ getting in a slam and tagging in Dregan who then puts the boots to Josh. With quick tags, Fuzion is back in and he gets in a shot to the ribs off the ropes. He places Josh on the top rope and tags back in Dregan, who hits a kick to Josh’s back. Adam comes in with some chops and Dregan fights Mimic on the other side of the ring. Adam power bombs Josh and scores the pin, eliminating him. Mimic comes in and they have a chop fest. Adam attempts to put Mimic’s head into Fuzion’s boot but the move his reversed and he ends up eating the leather! Mimic seizes the moment and rolls up a stunned Adam to eliminate him. We’re now at two all. An infuriated Adam slaps Fuzion as he leaves ring side. VooDoo runs in and hits a Canadian Destroyer on Fuzion from no where and eliminates him!! Cruize thinks he’s got this one in the bag and throws some taunts at Matthews who is looking nervous at ring side. VooDoo suplexes Dregan but he soon finds himself in a sleeper hold, with Dregan taunting his brother. He stands on the second rope and uses the sleeper hold to strangle VooDoo, then goes over to spit on Mimic. He does some work on VooDoo’s knee before hitting the cut throat and curb stomp to eliminate VooDoo. Matthews gets in a cheap shot as VooDoo goes to the back. Mimic comes into the ring and hits Dregan with some vicious European upper cuts, then a scoop slam and swinging elbow drop. He’s on fire as he returns the favour from their earlier match with some chops, then a snap mere and leg lariat. The crowd senses Matthews is about to lose his title as Mimic climbs to the top rope but he misses the 450 splash. That doesn’t deter him though and he hits a corkscrew dive to the floor. Fuzion comes back to ring side and attacks the referee to stop the pin and then goes after Mimic. Damon is in the ring too and Fuzion goes to throw powder in Mimic’s eyes but misses and hits Damon! Damon then super kicks Fuzion and celebrates, thinking its Mimic! Dregan is back up and hits a tilt a whirl back breaker and a wicked running cut throat. He then goes for the curb stomp and things don’t look good for Team Cruize. Damon is screaming at him to make the pin but he’s not content yet and hits another curb stomp, this time ramming Mimic’s head into the bottom turnbuckle on the way down. Then all hell breaks loose as Josh runs down and hits a Lou Thesz press from the top rope! VooDoo comes in and hits a Canadian Destroyer – an impressive feat in someone so tall. Adam then comes in and plants DDT into the mat, to the cheers from the crowd. A RCW chant breaks out as Mimic gets a two count. Dregan comes back with a big boot but then Mimic returns favour with a leg lariat and then the double under hook pile driver for the win! Damon Matthews is one not happy boy!! After several insults, he spits the dummy, throws down the title and leaves the ring to the chant of “you need a tissue”…….

What an awesome show and a great night. Sure, not every match on the card delivered but as an overall package it was one of the best RCW and local wrestling nights I’ve ever been to. Action, story line development, hard core violence. It had something for everyone and any one who went away disappointed needs their head examined. My only fear – how does RCW live up to that in 2008? I can’t wait to find out!!
Have a fun but safe holidays and see you in 2008!
