Full review // by Scott

Tonight’s show starts off with Wolfdogg introducing us to Justin Cross, who will be facing Damon Matthews for the RCW Title tonight. Justin brings Misty Cupcakes to the ring with him and the men in tonight’s audience are very thankful! We don’t get much of a chance to listen to Justin as another debutant, Adam Gambino, comes to the ring. Apparently there is some history there between the two but Adam just wants to declare his intent to take Mimic’s SnakePit title away from the face-less one. Damon Matthews then decides to join in the festivities and after an “Enema” chant from the small but vocal crowd, the show can commence….

Dienamic v Dragon Spawn

Very interesting contest to start us off. You have two of the hardest kickers in Australian Wrestling and the debut in RCW of Dragon Spawn. They both decide to establish dominance early and a “kick fest” starts us off before Dienamic gets in a snap mere and then hits a stiff kick to his opponent’s back. Not to be outdone, Dragon returns the favour with the exact same sequence of moves. These two obviously don’t like each other as now they move from kicks, to slaps. Dragon then takes the momentum and hits a drop kick followed by more kicks in the corner and a spinning kick to finish off.  Next its a double kick to the corner and then a snap suplex to continue his early dominance, followed by a side Russian leg sweep and elbow drop. A flying back elbow is next but Dienamic fights out of a head lock with a jaw breaker and starts his own series of offence. His trademark running forearm shot is followed by a suplex for a close 2 count. Next is a scoop slam but then he is caught on the top rope for a side suplex to the mat. Dragon is back on top again as he hits two chops, a spinning leg lariat, monkey flip and side kick off the ropes but can only get a 2 count as well. He doesn’t get frustrated as he kicks Dienamic in the midriff and then executes a brutal DDT (sold beautifully). Both get in clotheslines each before Dienamics hits some more stick kicks to the back and head but a super kick from Dragon has them both down. Dragon recovers first and hits the X Factor but Dienamic comes back with an AJ Styles spinning leg lariat. He’s caught on the top rope again but after an exchange, is able to force Dragon to the mat and hit his Double Stomp for the win! Then as he walks around the ring to return to the back, Dienamic is pulled over the barrier by Pitbull, who gets in a couple of shots before he’s escorted out of the building by security with his accomplice, Casey Collision. What the hell?! Why is a HRPW wrestler attacking a RCW wrestler at a RCW show? No idea but interesting times ahead for sure and it stunned the crowd! Good match between Dienamic and Dragon, who had good chemistry for a first meeting and I really enjoyed it.

Lola v Savannah Summers

Those these two have met at SnakePit shows, this is Lola’s debut in RCW where she has only been seen with Just Josh in the past. I have to say I like Savannah’s new ring attire but was confused by Lola’s change of music from what she uses at SnakePit shows. Things start off with Savannah putting Lola in a headlock but she’s able to reverse that into a head scissor manoeuvre. Before we can get much more action in, Fuzion comes to ring side and enters the ring! He then proceeds to hit Lola with a brutal clothesline and puts her in a headlock, calling out Just Josh. I guess the women’s match is a no contest as now we have….

Fuzion v Just Josh

Have to make comment, Fuzion – why lose the beard? I thought it looked good. Also, look up “baby face” in the wrestling dictionary and find a picture of Josh! Is anyone more over with the crowd in RCW and SnakePit? Fuzion attempts to start things off with a handshake, which he suckers his younger opponent into agreeing to before hitting with a clothesline. Josh shrugs that off and gets in his own offence that sees Fuzion retreat to the floor. He doesn’t get any respite as Josh leaps over the top for a seated swanton to the floor! Fuzion the takes over as he puts Josh’s head to the barrier and hits him with some punches. He attempts to hit Josh again but misses and hits the barrier for his troubles! Josh takes the opportunity and comes off the barrier for an ax handle that then sees Fuzion attempting to flee from his opponent around the ring before he climbs back in and outsmarts Josh with an elbow drop. He follows that with a full nelson into a slam but Josh comes back with two clothesline but is then sent to the apron where Fuzion kicks him off into the barriers on the floor. A “Fuzion Sucks” chant can be heard as he hits a very well executed Arn Anderson spine buster. His dominance is short lived as Josh catches him trying to come off the ropes and hits a frankensteiner. A double kick follows with a rolling senton and splash. A Jeff Hardy double kick using the ropes is next but Fuzion puts in an arm lock that is reversed for a close 2 count. Fuzion takes offence to this as he chops and then chokeslams Josh. Fuzion then leans over the ropes and pulls Lola to the apron by her hair, where he then proceeds to kiss her!!! She takes obvious issue with that and slaps him, which allows Josh to hit a sunset flip and get the pin! Fuzion is furious and attempts to attack Josh but he’s knocked out of the ring. Now this is a story line I can get into! Whilst it was disappointing to not see the women’s match, I loved how this whole thing evolved and I just hope they run with it and develop the possibilities further. Not that he needs to be any more over but I would love to see Lola turn on Josh and side with Fuzion, therefore allowing her to turn heel, which would make the crowd’s choice of which woman to cheer for, easier. Good match, with a great storyline and if it wasn’t for the Main Event, I would have given this Match of the Night for me.

Adam Gambino v Mimic
SnakePit Championship

Adam doesn’t want for an introduction as he attacks Mimic from behind after he enters the ring. Mimic comes back and hits a leg lariat that clearly misses but was still sold – so unfortunate when that happens and its so obvious. Adam doesn’t stay down long as he runs off a sequence of offence from a big boot to punch to suplex to DDT. A clothesline off a reversal off the ropes allows him to stay in control but then Mimic hits an enzugiri and momentum is lost. Mimic follows up with the Elijah Experience and attempts a springboard swanton but is met by Adam’s raised knees! Adam hits Mimic with a stiff kick and Mimic returns the favour and now both are outside the ring. Mimic hits a chop and Adam has had enough as he throws Mimic over the barriers and into the crowd. He then bounces Mimic’s head over various walls as they fight around the arena, ending up on the balcony with a “Throw him off” chant being directed by Mimic’s fans. They come back down and Mimic is thrown off the stairs back into the seated area. Once again Mimic tries to fight back but is thrown back over the barriers to ring side. Both men climb the ring and stand on the apron where Mimic hits another enzugiri that puts Adam back in the ring. A shining wizard follows before Adam hits a spinning neck breaker into a DDT – very nice move! A tall, dark figure then comes to ringside in a mask and everyone soon recognises Dregan, though now he is in new all black attire. He enters the ring and attacks Mimic causing Adam to lose the match via disqualification. Dregan is not interested in that as he continues his assault on his brother and executes a new move to his arsenal, the curb stomp! As he leaves, the obviously upset fans confront Dregan, who pulls apart the barriers to get in their faces and put them in their place! I liked the continual evolution of the Mimic v Dregan storyline and Dregan’s character, which hopefully will end in a big blow off match. The match itself was solid without being spectacular. I would have liked for Adam to have more time to interact with the crowd and get more heat from them as they had never seen him before but it was still a good debut. I have heard he plays up his ethnic background a lot in his character and I hope next time he graces us with his presence, he’s allowed to work some of that into his performance.

Dregan v VooDoo

VooDoo comes out first and is chased around the ring by Dregan who hits him with some stiff shots! He then puts VooDoo into the ring post twice and hits him with hard kicks and punches. He already had heat from the crowd for attacking Mimic but now they are really ticked off! Dregan uses his long legs to put the boot to his opponent’s neck but VooDoo comes back with a hip toss and spinning arm drag followed by a rolling neck breaker. Next is a big back body drop. Dregan gets up and whips VooDoo into the corner but misses with his follow up and his rolled up for a 2 count. VooDoo then hits a judo takedown but is then kicked off the apron and nearly lands on WolfDogg! He’s then put into the ring steps and hit with a chop that makes me cringe in pain! Dregan hangs him over the apron and hits two back elbows. He continues to work on VooDoo’s head with two stiff shot to the back but his then hit with a sunset flip as VooDoo fights back. “Dregan’s a wanker” is soon heard and this infuriates him and he confronts the fans, scaring some into returning to the seats! Both men go for kicks at the same time and VooDoo comes off the worse as he’s hit in the family jewels! Dregan runs with this and hits a scoop slam and fall away slam before VooDoo can come with a reverse whip to the corner and flying clothesline. He’s now on a roll as he hits a split leg moonsault but it doesn’t last long as Dregan literally throws him into the corner like a rag doll and follows up with an awesome running clothesline. A flapjack is then used followed by a low blow that was not seen by the referee. Dregan then removes his belt and strangles his opponent with no repercussions from the referee! VooDoo attempts to get back into the match and climbs the ropes but is thrown off to the apron. Dregan then attempts to do the same but is knocked off when VooDoo lunges against the ropes. He’s too beaten down to utilise this opportunity and Dregan picks him up in the torture rack and hits the cutthroat for the pin. Not content with just the win, he then hits a curb stomp on VooDoo that looked brutal! As he leaves, he scares some children who dare to confront him and ignore his command to sit down!  Good match that showcased the new, dark Dregan. I like that he’s also changed his move set and added some new stuff to add to the character’s development. The curb stomp looks brutal and so does the cutthroat. Not sure where they go with VooDoo from him as it seems that Fuzion, Josh, Dienamic, Mimic and Dregan have full dance cards so I hope he’s not lost in the mix as I love watching him work. I think he needs an angle to work with but not sure what……yet!

Justin Cross w/- Misty Cupcakes
v Damon Matthews

RCW Title

Great technical start to this match as both men try to establish an early dominance. Lots over variations on arm bars, arm locks and reversals with no one being able to get the upper hand until Justin hits a clothesline from out of nowhere. He follows with a leg lariat that forces Damon to the floor to regroup. He comes back in and hits a shoulder block but gets a brutal chop in return and he decides to open the old school heel playbook but poking Justin in the eyes. He then proceeds to hit him with some very stiff forearms and a slap to add insult to injury. He has total control of the match as he whips Justin to the corner and follows with a clothesline then a suplex. He attempts another whip to the corner but this time Justin puts up his boot and goes to the top rope but is knocked off and lands on his head! OUCH! Damon then hits a bloody awesome running double drop kick to the throat that is executed and sold to perfection! Not content with destroying Justin, he gets his Singapore Cane from ringside and begins to stalk Misty! Justin attacks him from behind but Damon hits back with a leg lariat and straight punch to the groin! He then hangs Justin’s head over the bottom rope and hits his trademark kick from the floor onto the apron and Justin’s head. Damon then attempts a super kick but misses Justin and hits the referee! Justin takes the chance and hits Damon with a brainbuster and then excellent leg drop off the top rope but there is no referee to administer the count! Damon gets up and attempts another super kick but again misses and this time lands himself on the top rope. He goes to the floor and retreats over the barriers into the crowd for salvation but not from Justin……..as he executes a running senton over the ropes, barriers and into about the 4th row!!!! Quite rightly, a “HOLY SHIT” chant goes out! Move of the Night! They now fight through the crowd and hit each other in a “forearm fest”. Not content with that, they then enter a “chop fest”!! Both men return to the ring where Justin hits an awesome swinging back breaker and a clothesline that turns Damon inside out! He follows that with a spinning enzuguri as this time we get a “Misty” chant. Its about bloody time, fellas!! Damon comes back with a death valley driver that gives him the time to ascend the ropes and hit the enigma bomb for……..a 2 count! Justin senses he’s in a trouble and comes back with a second rope tiger driver that I’ve never seen before but instantly love! Justin puts Damon on the ropes but misses an attempt to come off the top and kick Damon to the head. Damon takes the chance and sommersaults off the top but also misses but in an instant hits Justin with a super kick. The brutal vertebreaker follows and Damon retains the RCW title. Adam Gambino now hits the ring and helps Damon to further beat down Justin but Josh runs in to help and hits Adam with a reversal into a bulldog that puts the fans in a frenzy to close the show! What an awesome match with some breathtaking moves and a great finish. Match of the Night and now one of my favourites. Please, please come back again Mr Cross as I could watch you all night! I sense they are also teasing us with Adam Gambino v Just Josh, which will rival David v Goliath!!!

Really sucks that such a great show was missed by so many. Great story lines were developed, we were treated to some great matches and we got some great interstate talent to even further boost the action as well as the HRPW guys being involved! I hope this is a sign of things to come in RCW and am already counting the days down to October 6th.

See you there!
