I have to mention that the Civic Centre is one of the nicest, cleanest places I have ever watched local wrestling. Great venue but I just couldn’t shake the feeling I wanted to toast the bride & groom!!
Luke Hazard is back for this show, which is good because Wolfdogg’s commentary is so much better when he has someone to bounce things off and they both worked really well tonight, also utilising the returning Daryl Wylde in some nice comedy spots.
Try as hard as he does, people still want to cheer Dregan and apart from a few fans, he’s not getting the heat he probably desires. These things take time but dare I say, he needs a Matthews v Kash moment, with or without the eleven chair shots. Or like PNB holding up VooDoo until Mimic agreed to a match. Something that registers with the fans and ticks them off so much that they want to jeer him. Dregan attacked Sean from behind with his boot to start things off. He follows that up with some big right hands and the boot to the throat. He then misses a clothesline that gives Sean a roll up attempt but it only brings a count of 2 from Daryl. Dregan takes offence to that as he hits Sean with another big boot and then drops the leg and elbow on him. He then takes Sean’s t-shirt and chokes him with it before smashing his head into the apron and barriers outside the ring. A big chop can then be heard before Sean attempts a come back with a couple of punches but that is short lived as he’s power slammed and then hit with big forearm shots to the back. Sean gets in a swinging leg lariat but he’s no match for his opponent and Dregan picks him up and places his body across his shoulders for the cutthroat and pin. The crowd is cheering the win! See, that is what he doesn’t want! Come to think of it, if he was to attack and take out Josh, I think that would get him the hate he wants. Dregan then hits Sean with the curb stomp and Daryl reverses the decision, making your winner Sean Scott! This is where I would have had Dregan attack Daryl for taking away the win and that would have easily ticked off the crowd. Some what of a “squash match” where Sean didn’t get to show much.
Pitbull came out with Katy Kollision (Thanks for the correct spelling, Ella!) Is Mike over or what? The guy gets a decent pop in HRPW and he gets one in SnakePit. He starts things off with a clothesline and standing drop kick. Dragonspawn then joins him in the ring to hit a double drop kick and then elbow drops. Pitbull has had enough so he grabs and squeezes Dragonspawn’s family jewels! He follows that up with a head butt and throws Dragonspawn to the floor, where Kinkaid is able to get in some cheap kicks. Pitbull then attempts a somersault of the apron but misses and lands on the hard floor! Dragonspawn then leaps from the apron and hits a hurricarana to the floor. He then hits some knife edge chops and whips Pitbull into the ring post. They both get back into the ring, which allows Pitbull time to recover and he hits a spinning powerbomb, with Kinkaid entering the ring to help him with some elbows and kicks. Kinkaid gets in another elbow drop before Dragonspawn comes back with a kick and then a high kick into the corner. Mike then helps him to execute a double suplex. Mike’s back in the ring and Kinkaid spits in his face! That infuriates Mike who hits a leg lariat but Pitbull is too strong for him and hits a sidewalk slam, some kicks to the head, a chop and then low blow for good measure. Mike is then able to reverse a power bomb attempt into a hurricarana. Dragonspawn then goes to the top rope and hits his trademark kick that allows the pin on Pitbull for the win. Kinkaid then attacks Dragonspawn while Pitbull takes care of Mike. Dragonspawn is handcuffed to the ring ropes and Mike is beaten down by their opponents. Good little match. I really enjoyed it and thought all four men did their job well. I’m still waiting for Katy to get involved as I see no point to her being around ringside if she’s not going to help her man win. But as long as she keeps wearing those boots, I’ll be happy!
Promise so much but deliver so little. Kind of sums up this match. You knew it wasn’t going to go right when Sara slipped coming from behind the curtain and nearly fell over. And why is Lola changing her music at every show I see her? That’s just starting to annoy me! Pick one and stick with it! Sara starts things off with a drop toe hold and Lola comes back with some weak looking kicks. I’m no expert nor have I ever said I know anything about what I review but Lola definitely needs to work on her kicks, punches & forearms. They just looked so weak that no one would buy that they could hurt a fly, let alone a wrestler. Actually this was the worst I have ever seen both ladies work. The match itself was messy, disjointed with some weak looking offence. I’m sure they’d both like to forget this ever happened. Lola hits a monkey flip out of the corner and works on Sara’s left knee. Sara fights back and reverses into a crucifix for a 2 count. She then starts to get vicious and pulls on her hair whilst Lola is bent through the ropes. Lola comes back with a running clothesline and then two shoulder blocks but her offence is short as Sara hits a boot to the chest and then a high cross body from the top rope. From there she hits a double leg drop to Lola’s back and the match goes back and forth as Lola hits a variation on the bulldog and Sara comes back with a clothesline. Lola then hits a bad clothesline – bad as the spot was not fluent at all and looked forced – before Sara comes back with a body slam. Ace Wilson comes to the ring! Why? He attacks both women and throws them both out the ring, leaving this match as a no contest. What was the point of that? It made no sense at all and you could argue it was to get him heat with the crowd but no one cared. They just wanted to see the women wrestle.
What is up with Rocky using different music? Get back the old stuff and get it back NOW! Interesting choice of a match up here. The way the last SnakePit show ended, I would have picked a four way between Matthews, Mimic, Fuzion and Rocky. Oh well, I get to see Rocky so all is good in the world! Jeff, I mean Josh, is treated like a rag doll at the start as Rocky throws him around the ring. Josh hits back with a standing drop kick that upsets his opponent and he reacts with knees to the midriff, hot shot and suplex off the ropes, scoop slam and elbow drop. He shows his contempt for his young opponent by throwing him to the floor and taking a drink of water from Luke. This gives Josh the chance to execute various attempts at roll ups and pins but after no success he reverses into a hurricarana and now Rocky is out on the floor. Rocky goes old school as he pokes Josh in the eye and then forces his head into the apron twice. Back in the ring Rocky hits a side Russian leg sweep but picks up Josh’s shoulders after a count of 2! Big mistake as Josh hits a spring board into an axe handle then the Jeff Hardy delayed kick in the corner. Rocky hits two big chops and then a delayed suplex but the match is now a more even contest and Josh hits a face buster and then a reversal into a crucifix and sunset flip. Rocky gets to the top rope but is caught by Josh who hits the frankensteiner. Another upset looks on the cards until Josh misses a flying cross body from the top and Rocky hits the Razor’s Edge followed by the Roll of the Dice for the win. Good little match and I’m glad Rocky won. Nothing against Josh as I enjoy his work but in the pecking order of things, I’m not ready to see him beat Rocky clean. One day but not today.
Not that bloody music and those stupid tights!!! Aahhhhhh my eyes, my eyes!!! Though I do have to admit it gave Luke some great material to work with and added to the overall entertainment value of this match. I’m glad to see that Radic was back to his best and didn’t drag out the opening entrance and promo too much. Too much of a good thing can also be bad for you. After an insulting slap to the face, Radic decides he wants to start things off with a test of strength. They lock up twice but each time he kicks Tony in the stomach after it looks like he’s going to lose. That pisses him off so he proceeds to slap Radic’s arse, which leads into the dreaded “smelly hand of doom” that no one will go near!! Back to some wrestling and they both hit arm drags after reversals off the ropes. Radics had enough and pokes Tony in the eye and starts working on his shoulder. Tony comes back and smashes Radic’s head into the apron a couple of times and then scoops him up and drops his head on the apron again. Radic runs around the ring and suckers Tony back in to take control once again. He goes back to working on that shoulder and then hits a drop kick. Tony hits back with a clothesline and power slam off the ropes before Radic’s trick knee plays up again and he kicks Tony below the equator. He then has Tony’s head on the apron and hits elbows but his attempt at slamming him is blocked. Tony takes this chance and goes the old school Taker elbow shot off the ropes and the following snap suplex gets him a 2 count. Three chops later and Radic fights back with a back suplex and elbow drop off the top rope but the one finger pin is more an insult than a serious gesture. Radic goes old school with a sleeper hold but Tony works his way out and hits a shoulder block off the ropes. He then takes Radic around to the turnbuckles and smashes his head ten times to the enjoyment of the fans. Radic then goes to his tights and brings out some powder which he throws into Tony’s face during his attempt at a spear. This allows Radic to get the roll up and pin, whilst his legs are on the ropes for leverage. Another good little match with some good action and some great comedy spots. “Sports entertainment” sums this one up perfectly.
This was meant to be Fuzion v Mimic v Damon Matthews so I was a little peeved to not see Damon but that was short lived….We get a “shave your back” chant before we even start! I really like the Fuzion character, especially with Tommy J at his side but please lose that outfit. Just doesn’t suit the character at all. This one started off at a fast pace with the momentum swinging both ways and no one really dominating early. Fuzion got in some shoulder blocks only to see Mimic hit a leg lariat. Fuzion reverses into an arm drag and then slaps and spits in Mimic’s face! Mimic hits two clotheslines, a flying forearm and then a drop kick that knocks Fuzion off the apron. He comes back in and hits a sidewalk slam and DDT. That’s followed by an awesome spinebuster that is sold as perfectly as it is executed. Mimic then puts Fuzion on the ropes and kicks him in the head to take control of the match. From there he hits a scoop slam and lionsault before the awesome looking Elijah Experience. (Mimic should give this a name of his own) Stiff kicks to the back are next followed by a clothesline to the outside. He attempts a sling shot senton off the apron back into the ring but Fuzion brings up his knees. Things move back to the floor and Mimic hits two chops whilst Fuzion is against the barriers and then he chops Tommy J that brought one of the biggest pops of the night! Mimic puts Fuzion back in the ring and ascends to the top but is distracted by Tommy J, allowing Fuzion to recover and hit the Kevin Thorn bulldog off the top rope. He then places Mimic over the 2nd rope and jumps on his back. That’s followed by a suplex and full nelson into a slam. Mimic misses a clothesline but is then able to hit a northern lights suplex and kick Fuzion to the floor again. Mimic then hits a twisting senton from the ring onto Fuzion and Tommy J!! Back in the ring and Mimic hits a pump handle into a cradle slam and it looks like he’s going to retain his title. He attempts a moonsault but Tommy J pulls Fuzion out of the way. Mimic hits a double under hook into some kind of driver that was brutal and looked wicked! Daryl is checking on Fuzion when Rocky comes to the ring and hits the roll of the dice on Mimic, allowing Fuzion to make the pin and become THE NEW SNAKEPIT CHAMPION!!! To emphasise the point, he chokeslams Mimic after the match. The crowd was not happy with this result but I LOVED it! It’s the perfect evolution to the Fuzion character and with Tommy J’s interference; he should have a long and healthy reign. Upsets and surprises like this make wrestling more exciting and interesting, rather than the same old people always winning. I’m giving this my Match of the Night.
This is a hard one to describe or write about. Basically four people start in the ring and every three minutes four more enter. You are eliminated by going over the top rope and both feet touching the floor. I’ll start by listing the entrants in order: Just Josh, Fuzion, Dregan, Kinkaid, Iceman Miller, Sean Scott, Dragonspawn, Sara Jay, Thug, Lola, Tony Stone, John E Radic, Ace Wilson, Iceman Morris, Big Mike, Wolfdogg, Dan Stazer, Mimic, Pitbull and Rocky Menero. There was too much action going on so I just wrote things that stood out to me. Fuzion came out and then eliminated himself which I really loved. Adds to the whole character and his arrogance. Dregan dominated early and fun to see Sara attack Josh! Actually Sara worked very well in this match and more than held her own. Lola slapping and eliminating Thug was cool. Dregan punching Lola sure did get a reaction from the crowd! He also eliminated both women later in the match. Miller went, then Ace, then Wolfdogg, then Dregan, then Tony Stone. Radic goes around attacking everyone and Rocky throws out Mike. Mimic and Rocky take each other out over the top and continue to brawl to the back. We’re down to Pitbull, Dragonspawn and Josh…….or so we thought. Pitbull low blows Dragonspawn and throws him out. He then does the same to Josh but Josh manages to stay on the apron. Pitbull is unaware of this, thinking he’s won the match but then gets kicked out of the ring by Josh. Now everyone in the crowd thinks Josh has won. Everyone that is, except for my daughter who spotted that Radic did not go over the top rope and is hiding underneath the ring! Bloody observant kids!! Radic comes out and enters the ring behind Josh’s back to throw him out and win the War Games Cup!! He then cuts another promo and soon everyone from the back is coming back into the ring! This was the coolest part of the night! All the heels are forced to the floor and Mike and Josh come off the top to take them all out. Mimic then does the same and after encouragement from Tony and the crowd, so does Daryl – to the single biggest pop of the night!!! Awesome and fun way to end the show!!
The first half was a bit slow but it built up nicely with the two main events delivering and everyone going home happy. Just sucks I won’t get to see the one this week in Minlaton.
See you on November 10th!
